Lewis Farms Reopens for Spring Season
As winter begins to fade and warmer weather approaches, a favored local destination is now reopened and back for another season. Lewis Strawberry Nursery and Farms in Wilmington, North Carolina has finally reopened for its 2026 spring season, bringing fresh fruits, vegetables, and outdoor fun back into the community.

The farm, located off of Gordon Road, usually opens in late March–whenever the weather starts warming up–and remains open throughout early summer. This year was like any other with the farm’s 2026 season kicking off towards the end of March and opening every day with shorter hours on Sundays.
Lewis Farms is most known for its “You pick” experience, giving visitors the chance to pick their very own fresh strawberries right off the farm, one of their most popular activities. Strawberry picking usually takes place in early to mid April. Depending on factors like weather, this usually continues throughout the season. Lewis Farms also offers blueberries, blackberries and raspberries later on in the season, providing a handful of options to visitors.
Although many visitors go for fruit picking, Lewis Farms is more than just that. Visitors can explore a greenhouse that holds a variety of different flowers and plants. The farm also is very well known for its sweet treats like their ice cream, making it a popular stop for locals and tourists alike.
As a fourth generation family owned farm, Lewis Farms has built quite the reputation for providing quality products and services, as well as a friendly environment. Because of this, many families make it a tradition to visit the farm when it opens up for the season each year. With its reopening, Lewis Farms marks the unofficial start of spring for locals in Wilmington. Whether you come to pick strawberries, enjoy ice cream on a hot day, or simply spend time outside looking at the plants, Lewis Farms continues to be a well-loved destination in the community!
