Meet the Staff

Aparna Dhulipala
Aparna Dhulipala is a senior returning for her fourth year on the staff of The Viking Chronicle! She is passionate about sustainability and social justice, and is excited to write more articles centered around those themes. Outside of newspaper, she's involved in Science Olympiad, Youth Climate Action Coalition, Teen Court, and more, and in her free time, she loves to read, listen to music, and make pottery.

Luke Hudson
Luke Hudson is a senior and has been a member of The Viking Chronicle since junior year. When he's not reviewing restaurants, markets and food festivals, Luke balances his time as a volunteer for Good Shepherd Center, Teen Court, and First Tee of Wilmington and also leads the Hoggard DECA business club as its president. Luke is an avid cook, enjoys music and film, and is terrible fisherman.

Emma Smith
Emma Smith is a junior and is in her second year at The Viking Chronicle. Outside of school, she is an avid traveler and music listener. Emma is also currently serving as the Print Media Officer for the NC YMCA Youth and Government and hopes to bring in those learned leadership values to facilitate a collaborative and fun club environment!

Issy Gee
Issy is a senior and has been a writer for the Chronicle for two years. She absolutely loves to read and write, and is a hardcore Star Wars fan. Outside of the Chronicle, she is Co-President of Hoggard's Writing and Debate clubs.

Avery Thompson
Sophomore Avery Thompson is excited to serve as the community column editor in her first year with The Viking Chronicle. Avery is passionate about everything she does: working hard at lacrosse practice, leading in her youth group, and playing her favorite board games with intensity. As a member of the Hoggard Yearbook staff and The Viking Chronicle, Avery hopes to continue growing her photography and writing skills this year. She keeps busy year-round hanging out with her family of six, treasuring her down time watching “Gilmore Girls,” and catching up with friends.

Allie Medlin
Allie Medlin is a sophomore and has been a member of The Viking Chronicle since freshman year. In her free time she enjoys working out, volunteering, and hanging out with friends and family. On the weekends you will find her working as a part-time lifeguard and swim instructor at the local YWCA. When she’s not practicing the violin or piano, she enjoys watching classic rom-coms such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Poppy Coleman
Poppy Coleman is a junior at Hoggard. She runs cross country in the fall and plays lacrosse in the spring. In her free time you can find her at the beach, playing pickleball with friends, or watching college football (specifically Carolina). Go Heels!

Ryan Reiniche
Ryan is a senior and has been a part of the Chronicle since freshman year. He loves anything to do with sports particularly swimming and NFL football. His favorite team is the Chicago Bears. He sometimes says that he isn’t a fan of the Bears, rather a tolerator. He also spends his free time surfing or playing with his dog, Piper.

Meghan Zylich
Meghan Zylich is a sophomore and has been involved with the Viking Chronicle since freshman year. Along with reading and writing, she spends her time rehearsing and performing in musical theatre productions, where she can practice and improve her singing, acting, and dancing skills. Meghan enjoys volunteering, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to new places!
