You may be thinking winter isn’t even close to coming to an end; we just had snowfall last month! Why should you be worrying about the spring? Well, like it or not, we are all aware of Wilmington’s exceptionally erratic weather patterns. It can be difficult to predict if the weather will continue to be in the more mild-to-cooler temperatures, or branch out with its surprisingly warmer numbers. Whichever path Mother Nature chooses to run its course, you can prepare and set yourself up for success regarding all things spring by following these simple yet effective steps.
Spring Cleaning
With the start of spring approaching quickly in just over a month, now is the time to go ahead and begin clearing and eliminating any trace of uncleanliness in your home. Scrubbing away dirt and grime on any available surface, organizing your closet, sanitizing your bathroom counters, donating old or unwanted clothes and items, and changing out bedsheets are all great ways to prepare! Although this may seem like a daunting task, you don’t have to accomplish it all in one day. Simply creating a goal for yourself to clean one section of your house daily or weekly can turn your home into a sparkly, squeaky-clean, luxury before the warm weather arrives!
Check Your Yard & Plan Your Garden
Springtime is commonly known for its freshly-bloomed flowers and plants. It’s about soaking up the warm but not scorching hot sun, and enjoying the light sprinkle of rain. Why not use this opportunity to tackle your yard and garden you’ve been meaning to plant? A great way to get back into the groove of yard work could be to do some spring pruning and assessing. This will ensure your yard looks as beautiful as can be. Purchasing and planting organic and native seeds can also get you one step closer to a successful garden – and create a welcoming habitat for native species.
Practice Self-Care
Spring is the season of growth and renewal; the season of developing healthy habits and mindful meditations. This month, try curating a productive yet relaxing routine to keep yourself at peace. This could look like getting a message, meditating, perfecting or creating a skin-care routine, taking a soothing bath, partaking in yoga, reading a book, chatting with friends, getting your hair and nails done, and much more. Find a self-care method or technique that works for you, and stick with it to improve your overall well being!
Stay Active & Maintain Healthy Eating Habits
In order to stay on top of your health and wellness journey, it's important to move your body and get outside regularly. A few ways to achieve that extra session of exercise include walking, jogging, running, biking, hiking, and swimming. Working out at the gym or even from your own home could also be just as effective. Along with this, spring is a great season to start eating fresh, healthy foods. If you fell off your healthy eating habits this winter, no need to worry! Choosing to incorporate more produce and protein into your diet can really benefit you in more ways than you know. Most importantly, don’t forget to stay hydrated. Making sure you’re drinking enough water becomes more and more important as the weather gets warmer.
Try Something New & Surround Yourself With Positive Energy
A final step into mastering your springtime preparation- trying something new! Whether it’s testing out a new hobby, learning a new language, taking a cooking class, or participating in a new sport, stepping out of your comfort zone can ultimately help you learn and grow as a person. Trying new things can also bring you a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. As for the people and things you make an effort towards, make sure they’re bringing in positive energy into your life. Make sure you surround yourself with people who encourage and uplift you. Living life to its full value is important, since life is too short to be stuck in an endless loop of negativity.
Spring means fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s a season for prioritizing health and wellness, spending time outdoors, and crafting new goals to achieve later on. The time of songbirds and flowers is upon us. Even if you only get to check off some of these tips before the season rolls around, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying spring to its fullest. After these last couple of cold months, I think we could all use a little reminder of what is to come!
