Playoff Vikes Topple Millbrook

Updated: Dec 23, 2024

We are three games into the NCHSAA postseason, and our Hoggard Vikings are still dancing, defeating #11 Millbrook 28-21 last Friday night. It was a hard-fought game, with Millbrook tying it up halfway through the fourth quarter on a 48-yard rushing touchdown. The Vikings, after receiving the ball, put together a long drive, capping it off with a 27 yard strike from Matthew Boring to Ji’rique Bell, putting the Vikes at Millbrook’s 8 yard line, followed by Isaiah Newkirk punching it in to put Hoggard up by a score. Millbrook's last-ditch effort on 4th & 10 was thwarted by a clutch forced fumble from sophomore defensive lineman Marshall Chalk, sealing the game for the Vikes.

Coming off of a great team win,  the Vikings have been rolling in the playoffs, looking to claim their place in the NCHSAA State Championship for the second year in a row. Looking ahead to this Friday, December 6th, Hoggard will face off against #2 Cardinal Gibbons on the road. Be sure to support the team as they venture into enemy territory this week- and for those of you making the trip to watch the team play, stay warm. Go Vikes!
