As of early January, over half of our NFL teams have officially been taken out of the running for the coveted Super Bowl trophy. With only 8 teams left, who will tackle the title of “Super Bowl Champs,” and who will fumble their chances in their first matchup?

After the weekend of January 11th and 12th, the four divisional playoff games will start on the 17th. The four matchups consist of the Buffalo Bills vs the Denver Broncos, the Houston Texans vs the New England Patriots, the San Francisco 49ers vs the Seattle Seahawks, and the Los Angeles Rams vs the Chicago Bears. But who will win it all?

With our current stats, the Seahawks seem like a common answer across the board for top Superbowl contenders. This team is quick to the ball, and if they can continue their win streak with solid plays and great physical defense, they could make it very far. The Seahawks also have a home field advantage against the 49ers, giving them a little bit of a leg up during this match up.

At the bottom of the pyramid are the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers. Obviously, both teams are extremely good if they’ve made it this far. But, when compared to their competitors, critics and fans aren’t sure how far they’ll go. The Bears have a tendency to give yards away, with their offensive line not being the best. The 49ers have suffered injuries to some key players, including McCaffery, Kittle, and Warner, which can definitely be a factor in hindering their plays.

In the end, we really won’t know who our “Super Bowl Champs” will be until February. But for now, it sure is fun to imagine! Make sure to talk to your friends and teachers about who they think will win the Super Bowl trophy this year!
